ZENG FANZHI , EXPOSITION MUSEE D'ART MODERNE

 
 
Born in 1964 in Wuhan, in China’s Hubei province, Zeng’s work can be seen at Paris’s Museum of Modern Art from the 18th of October 2013 until the 16th of Februari 2014.
The exposition features around 40 of his paintings and sculptures dating back to 1990;            his "Hospital" and "Meat" paintings from the 1990s inspired by the scenes he witnessed in the local clinic near where he lived, the "Mask" series established after 1994 when Zeng's art makes an immediate shift towards a more apathetic nature, responding ironically to his concerns of his new contemporary urban life and last but not least his most recent “Landscapes” series , his art after 1997 that can be considered more relax and symbolistic.
In October 2013, Sotheby’s Hong Kong at the Asian Contemporary 40th Annivesary Sale, Zeng Fanzhi's The Last Supper was sold for US$23.3 million, setting a new record for contemporary Asian artwork. Zeng , according to art data firm Artpriceis currently ranked the fourth highest-selling contemporary artist according to art data firm Artprice.
